Pixieland

We found an online special that on Friday's during the month of July at Pixieland you can pay $10/person (we paid for all 3 of us since we both wanted to ride with Shyla, otherwise we could've just paid for Shyla and one parent) and ride unlimited rides for 3 hours. There is also cost effective food, which is hard to find at amusement parks! We spent $13 and got: two burgers, 1 hotdog, 1 caprisun, 2 sodas, 1 bag of chips, and 1 cup of grapes. At other places you could spend $13 just on the 2 burgers! The only downfall of the evening was that I forgot my camera. Luckily though Jake's cell phone takes great pictures!This was Shyla's first time at an amusement park and riding the rides. She's ridden a carousel before, but that's the extent of her "ride" experience. Oh! She does sometimes ride the horses and cars outside grocery stores, though I'm not sure how they will compare after a trip like this one. When we first got there we only counted 6 rides. I think we'll only be going during the summer, because normally you have to use 1 ticket/ride and 2 tickets on 2 of the rides, which ends up not being too cost effective. By the end of the evening and after seeing how much fun Shyla had, it was worth it. She didn't seem to mind there were only 6 rides. When we first arrived there wasn't too many people and none of the rides had any lines. A couple times Shyla got to stay on when the ride was over for a second round. By the end of the evening the longest wait was only a couple minutes. A couple minutes though to a child is a really long time so we had to keep explaining to Shyla that she had to wait her turn. At the end of the evening, Jake let Shyla go on the plane ride one last time and then he said he wanted to get her cotton candy!!! We all know it was really for him! In any event, we gave cotton candy to our hyperactive 3-year old at 9 o'clock at night before the 20 minute car ride home... it didn't turn out too bad. Not that I want to make a habit out of it.

It may not have been as action packed as Great America or Marine World, but this way was more cost effective. We also didn't know how Shyla would react to the rides and we didn't want to spend an arm and leg just to have her scream and hate it the whole time. Good thing though, she loved it! It's a fun place for a kids birthday too so maybe in a couple years when Jacob is older we can have a party for him there. With Shyla's birthday being in January, we have to make sure her parties are indoors since there will always be a chance of rain. I'm hoping we can take her 2 more times in August. While we were there we saw that the $10/person deal runs during August, only the food costs a little bit more, but it still a good deal.
