Pumpkin Farm

We took Shyla out to a pumpkin farm for the first time (last year we just went to a pumpkin patch in town, this farm was much better).

We went driving around Brentwood last week looking for a place to get a pumpkin. We didn't want to go to a "regular" pumpkin patch. Well, after driving around for a while we came across Smith Family Farm. Most people out here seem to already know about it, but it was news to us. We drove in, checked it out, and decided when we had more time we were going to come back. Shyla LOVED it. Not like last year where just the sight of the pumpkins put her in tears.

Shyla was a little tired before our trip started, but she hung on very well. It was Shyla's first trip on a hayride. It wasn't a real hayride. I thought it was going to be, but it turned out to just be a wagon with wood seats. As soon as the tractor started up, she freaked.

The hayride took us out to the pumkin patch. They had about 3 or 4 small patches. It's a POPULAR place with schools so I'm sure if we had gone earlier in the day there would've been a TON of kids.

We got to see some of the farm animals. There was a donkey, 2 month old baby pigmie goat, and some turkeys (there were several other animals too).

Later on we got to enjoy a Barnshow. I thought it was going to be a "show off the animals" type of show, but it turned out to be a small hoe-down. Shyla didn't want to go play with any of the instruments, but the other kids did and it was fun! By the end, Shyla was clapping along by herself.

What a cool place!!! Way fun than buying a pumpkin at the grocery store.
